Dolly Parton Funded a Covid-19 Vaccine by Working 9–5.

Well, maybe she was not working 9–5, although she starred in the movie 9–5. Miss Parton decided to help fund the Moderna vaccine through Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. On her Instagram account, Dolly Parton stated, “My longtime friend Dr. Naji Abumrad, who’s been involved in research at Vanderbilt for many years, informed me that they were making some exciting advancements towards that research of the coronavirus for a cure. I am donating $1 million to Vanderbilt towards that research and to encourage people that can afford it to make donations.”

At present, the Moderna vaccine is at 94% efficacy. These are great odds for any vaccine, especially one so new.

Miss Parton, 74, was born in a small cabin in Pitman Center, TN. There were 11 siblings, 2 of whom have since passed away. Her life was not filled with gems and diamonds but instead two loving parents who did all they could to make ends meet. She has said that her business sense came from her father. If this is true, he was quite the man considering how well she has done financially over the years. Her presumed net worth as of April 2020 is $600 million. Not too shabby considering what she was against.

Dolly has a big soft heart when it comes to charitable donations. I’ve listed a few: Imagination Library, Dollywood Foundation, United Way, Save The Music, and Make A Wish Foundation.

It’s strange writing about two different forces in one article. Dolly is this charismatic good-natured person who grows more by helping others. Covid-19 is a virus that develops and multiples by taking over a host, often killing the host.

I once heard that you could tell a person's character by the length of his or her marriage. Dolly has been married for 54 years and is very real on the subject, “My husband and I have been together for 57 years, been married 54, and I’m sick of him, and I’m sure he’s sick of me”. Such a long and seemingly strong marriage speaks highly of her and her husband.

We need more Dolly Partons. For most, this has been a trying year.

Many others have stepped in to help win the battle of “The Covid.” Countless celebrities, The Front-Line Workers, Food Banks throughout the country, assisted living facilities, schools, companies, and organizations, all of whom believe that life is precious and worth living.
