Is Our Current President (Trump) Irrational?
This is not an unusual question, given what we’ve experienced since the election. Whatever political party you’re affiliated with, Trump’s behavior feels strange. It appears that President Trump does not want to let go of the highest office in the land. I can’t blame him. I wouldn’t want to step down either. But knowing what we know about the few incidents with miscounts and locating additional mailed in ballots, the numbers do not significantly change. Sure, many want to believe that there is extreme fraud, but that’s not what’s happened. Changing the outcome of an election of this scale is near impossible and scary. If the country decided to repeat an entire election based on the insignificant information available, this could spark a civil war. If the division we’re in now is terrible, wait until we overturn the election and see how divided we’ll become. Be very careful what you ask for because you might get it.
Dictionary.com’s definition of irrational:
1.without the faculty of reason; deprived of reason.
2.without or deprived of normal mental clarity or sound judgment.
3.not in accordance with reason; utterly illogical:
I don’t want to harp on all that Trump has said but what does stand out are the comments made concerning the Republican Georgia Governor, the state he lost. Blaming Governor Kemp makes no sense. There have been two recounts in Georgia, both with very close results. Trump called Brian Kemp, insisting he calls a special session of the state legislature to override the results and assign electors who would side with him. Hmm, not irrational at all. This seems normal. “I didn’t win, so I’m gonna cry and pout, throw my toy cars out the window, then insist the Governor of Georgia change the entire voting process of the Electoral College and side with me. I want my Mommy.”
Trump will go down in history as a vengeful and unstable President. He is creating an atmosphere that may keep many Americans from voting in future elections. Ironically, voter turnout in the past 2020 Presidential election was one of the largest in U.S. history since the early 1900’s at 161 million Americans or 65% of eligible voters. We may see that number dwindle to record lows if people do not believe in our voter system’s validity.
President Donald Trump may be as sane as sane can be. But his actions are troubling, to say the least. Maybe he is so in tune with his plan that none of us can see it. Perhaps we are all too slow to see what will happen, and through some miracle, the Electors will wake up on the official Monday after the second Wednesday in December, 12/14, and cast their votes in the direction of Trump. This is 2020; anything can happen.
I believe Mr. Trump will leave the office pouting and try to get airtime for his foolish voter fraud belief. If he takes that turn, most people will place him in the back of their minds and forget.
Or maybe he will go under the radar for a few months and reappear with a Trump Television Network (TTN)in place. If this happens, he does stand a good chance of running again in 2024. Time will tell, and life is strange. Whatever happens, we might all be surprised.
